Microsuction Ear Wax Removal Covering Mid Sussex.

If you suffer from hearing loss, earache or blocked ears, it could be wax. This problem affects people from all age groups and all walks of life.

A 30-minute ear & hearing health appointment is maybe what you need. If wax is present we will gently and safely remove it with microsuction. A quick hearing test is included if required.

1 Microsuction is the gold standard for ear wax removal.

It’s quick, painless & safer than other wax removal methods such as irrigation. The technology uses a fine low pressure suction device, just like a gentle vacuum to safely remove the wax & alleviate pain & discomfort.

2 Many GPs are no longer offering ear wax removal services.

As a result, wait times can be several weeks or even months before patients receive an appointment. This can have a significant impact on your health & well-being.

Use of the award-winning Tympa Health system allows South Downs Ear Care to perform digital otoscopy (ear examination capturing HD images & video) and provide diagnosis & treatment, within a calm & friendly environment.

At South Downs Ear Care, we begin by understanding your ear-health history and with a thorough examination of your ears, to identify whether ear wax build-up may be affecting your hearing.

Our goal is to clean your ears safely and effectively, helping you hear more clearly.

Our business was established in January 2023 and from the beginning, we provided a private microsuction service at Action for Deafness (AFD) in Haywards Heath alongside Audiology, until its closure in 2025. We continue to offer private microsuction in Burgess Hill and surrounding areas, including home visits.

A safe & simple ear care experience.

Soften the Wax

Use Earol olive oil spray twice a day, 5 days prior to your appointment. It softens the wax and makes microsuction so much easier.

No Waiting Time

We offer appointments five days a week (Mon - Fri), why wait weeks if we can see you quickly and avoid long wait times. Enquire if you need a same day or evening appointment.

Never use Cotton Buds

It pushes your ear wax deeper into your ear. They can cause trauma to the skin cells, cause itching, can perforate your ear drum & cause serious damage. They are not environmentally friendly either.

Ear Conditions

If any infection or abnormality is detected during your appointment, we seek further advice if necessary and follow up at a later date on the outcome. A visit to your GP may not be needed.

Unsuccessful Wax Removal

If wax removal is unsuccessful during your first appointment due to impacted ear wax, we may suggest a second appointment. Following application of more Earol olive oil spray to further soften the wax we will then repeat the process until the wax has been removed.

Images & video of inside the ear canal were taken & explained and stored for future reference. The procedure was painless with regular pauses to assess the progress of the wax removal. The final result was amazing, two visits were necessary due to stubborn, compacted wax in one of my ears. What a marvellous difference it has made.

I have a continuing problem with wax in my ears, compounded by hearing aids, and I need regular three monthly 'attention' from Louisa to keep my ears even moderately functioning. Louisa is very patient and professional in what she does, explaining the process and answering questions; nothing seems to be too much trouble for her. She provides Professionalism with a warm welcome and a sense of humour. After 2 visits I recommended to the Concierge in our retirement village that she be allowed to come here once a week in a room provided by the Village because her approach is just right for older patients who often have difficulty understanding and who are maybe apprehensive.
